Less Is More In Life and Fashion

January 10, 2010

”Less is more” is one of my favourite sayings when it comes to fashion – I learned it from a very stylish friend of mine who can effortlessly achieve that special classy look with a simple black cardigan, a pair of heels and a scarf.

Recently, however, I started wondering if I should try to apply the same saying to my everyday life. I used to love running around, meeting tons of people and working on several projects simultaneously – it made me feel on top of the world! Not any more…

Looking back on the previous year I was amazed how much I did but, somehow, I didn’t feel proud of myself, just exhausted and confused. Is this what they call getting older or maybe just growing up? Realising that savouring the moment and making it last for ages without achieving any visible is results is sometimes more than setting targets and scoring?

When it was time to make my New Year Resolution I felt resentment. And now, I week later I realised that my resolution is No More Resolutions! For a while I just want to be and enjoy the small pleasure in life.

Yesterday I went browsing in a book shop (something I love doing!), and then I took all my book to a café and spent a few hours reading and munching spinach on hot pita bread and drinking latte.

And as I type, I am still in bed, surrounded by magazines and a cup of tea. Yummy! This is what I call being on top of the world now!
